According to the renowned journalist Pepe Elías (via Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur are close to sealing a move to bring in Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo to North London for €25m during this summer transfer window. Football.London has also revealed that Spurs have already reached an agreement with the Spanish attacker’s representatives ahead of a potential move this summer.
Dani Olmo’s Brilliant Rise In European Football
The Spanish Under-21 international started off his youth career at Barcelona’s youth academy before he decided to join Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2014. Since completing his switch to Croatia, Olmo has worked tirelessly to break out as a first-team starter for Dinamo back in 2015.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a fantastic campaign at Zagreb after he put in a series of dazzling displays for his team last season. The Terrassa born prospect made 44 appearances for the Croatian giants in the previous campaign, registering 12 goals while creating nine assists across multiple competitions.
Olmo’s incredible versatility could be a useful tool for any of his potential suitors. He primarily operates as an attacking midfielder when he assumes his role in the number 10 position. However, Olmo can also make an impact when asked to play as a wide player on either wing. The European sensation is currently an essential asset for the Spanish Under-21 side, having featured in 10 matches while scoring three goals for them thus far.
What Will The Spanish Whizkid Add To Pochettino’s Side?
The Spanish youngster is not afraid of the spotlight and can manage expectations quite well even though he is just 21-years-old. He is very quick and agile in the opposition half which enables him to make intelligent runs from midfield. Olmo has also started to contribute in the attacking third of the pitch by scoring a few goals and setting up a few assists. He added more productivity to his game last season, which has increased his worth in the European transfer market.
Olmo’s potential acquisition will undoubtedly bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He will not only add more quality to Spurs going forward but will also increase competition for places within Pochettino’s squad. Olmo has all the skillset required to compete for a first-team spot with the likes of Dele Alli, Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela next season.
Hence, it makes a lot of sense for the North London giants to opt for a player of Olmo’s remarkable potential this summer.
