According to a recent report by Estadio Deportivo (translated by Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur have already met with Real Betis representatives to discuss a potential deal for the Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso during the summer transfer period.
The same source has stated that the deal is 80% complete so the La Liga sensation, who is rated at around €75m by Betis, could become Mauricio Pochettino’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyonnais.
Giovani Lo Celso’s Brilliant Campaign In The La Liga
The Rosario born prospect fits the bill perfectly as he is one of the brightest young talents in Spanish football and has the potential to become a future star in Europe. Lo Celso was in prolific form for Betis in the previous campaign which has increased his value in the European transfer market.
The Argentina international featured in 46 matches for the Spanish side in the last term, scoring 16 goals while providing six assists across multiple competitions. Lo Celso has also represented his nation in 16 international matches and has registered one goal for them thus far.
What Will The Argentine Sensation Bring To North London?
Lo Celso is quick and agile enough to make well-timed runs from midfield. He tends to create openings for himself or his teammates in the opposition half, which has seen him become such as a valuable member of the Betis first-team. The South American talent hardly gives away the ball and can play some neat passes from midfield. However, his game still has some room for improvement so Pochettino could be the perfect man to nurture him and make the most out of his talents in the coming years.
The acquisition of Lo Celso will undoubtedly improve the quality of the Tottenham squad before the start of the new campaign. He will not only add more goals to Pochettino’s midfield but will also increase competition for players like Ndombele, Harry Winks, Eric Dier and Oliver Skipp for a starting berth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
