Rangers will host St. Joseph’s at Ibrox in the second leg after securing a comfortable 4-0 win over the Gibraltor based outfit in the first leg. Steven Gerrard’s men have one foot in the next round of the Europa League qualifiers and barring a disastrous display; they should be through.
Gerrard’s men also secured a comfortable 4-0 won against French heavyweights Marseille in a friendly recently. Things are looking bright at the moment for Rangers and fans would hope that they can continue this form going into the season as well.
The manager will hope that his players don’t ease up even though they are 4-0 up on the tie. Ryan Jack, Sheyi Ojo, Borna Barisic and Alfredo Morelos managed to score in the first leg for the Gers.
Team News: Daniel Candeias is likely to miss out. New signing Filip Helander isn’t going to be part of this game as he is unregistered at the moment. Joe Aribo could also miss out as he might not be up to full pace yet.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs St. Joseph’s
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
The experienced Allan McGregor is set to start in goal for the Bears. He should be shielded by the defensive pairing of Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson. However, there could be a temptation for the manager to start George Edmundson as the tie is more or less in Rangers’ grasp. But we think that Katic and Goldson should continue.
James Tavernier is a nailed-on starter down the right side of the defence. After an injury-ridden first campaign, Borna Barisic will be keen to prove his worth at Ibrox. He should start at left-back to complete the back four.
Midfield
Steven Davis played in a central role acting as a defensive base in the first leg, and we think that he might continue in that position once again. Ryan Jack’s strong running is probably the reason why Gerrard might use him in a box to box role in midfield. Glen Kamara has been bossing games for the Gers since he arrived and he should be one of the first picks in the middle of the park.
Attack
New signing Jordan Jones is expected to start from the left. He will look to prove his worth as there is going to be plenty of competition for places in the wide region especially if Rangers end up signing Ryan Kent once again. Sheyi Ojo has seemingly settled in well, and the winger made an impressive competitive debut against St. Joseph’s in the first leg. He is the one to watch out for this season, and we expect him to start from the right. Alfredo Morelos might get the nod ahead of Jermain Defoe to lead the line.
