According to a recent report by Caughtoffside, Manchester United have joined the chase to secure the services of Dynamo Kyiv starlet Mykola Shaparenko during this summer transfer window. The same source has mentioned that the Red Devils will face stiff competition from Arsenal and Chelsea in pursuit of the Ukrainian talent in this off-season.
The Incredible Rise Of Mykola Shaparenko In The Ukrainian Top-Flight
Shaparenko used to play for FK Mariupol II before he decided to make a switch to Kyiv in the summer of 2015. He fought his way up Dynamo’s youth ranks and managed to break out as a first-team starter in the last term.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a fantastic campaign with the Kyiv-outfit last season after he put in a series of eye-catching displays in the Ukrainian Premier League. Shaparenko made 33 appearances for Dynamo in the previous campaign, finding the back of the net on eight occasions while creating three assists across all competitions.
He has also represented Ukraine at various youth levels and is currently an integral member of his country’s senior team. At the tender age of 20, the European whizkid has already earned four international caps for the Ukrainian national team thus far.
What Will The Ukrainian Midfield Ace Offer On The Pitch?
Shaparenko can retain possession well for his team at the middle of the park and is a potent goal-scorer going forward. The Ukranian Premier League’s rising star is also an accurate distributor of the ball and can open up a rigid defence with a killer pass in the final third. However, he is still quite a raw talent and would need time to work on his game before he is ready to play at the highest level.
Is Shaparenko A Star In The Making?
There are also some question marks over whether Shaparenko would be able to cope with the physical toll of English football. At 20, he has plenty of time to improve his game in the hope of becoming a world-class midfielder someday.
Shaparenko’s addition will improve Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad depth in the future. The Ukranian has incredible potential, so there is no denying that he is a prospect to watch out for in the years to come.
