According to a recent report by Calciomercato, Liverpool are plotting a €15m move to secure the services of FC Girondins de Bordeaux winger Francois Kamano during this summer transfer period. The same source has revealed that the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to add more cover for the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Hence, the German manager has identified the Ligue 1 rising star to bolster his attacking options in this off-season (via Calciomercato).
The Recent Emergence Of Kamano In French Football
The Guinea international began his playing career at Satellite FC before making a switch to France to play for SC Bastia back in 2014. He worked his way up their youth ranks and went on to break out as a first-team starter at the Stade Armand Cesari. Kamano decided to seal a move to Bordeaux in the summer of 2016.
The 23-year-old had a solid campaign in the Ligue 1 after he put in a string of goal-scoring displays under the stewardship of Ricardo Gomes last season. The Conakry-born talent featured in 51 matches for the French outfit in the previous term, scoring 13 goals while grabbing four assists across all competitions.
He has also secured 23 international caps for Guinea and has registered five goals for his nation thus far. At 23, Kamano is about to embark upon the peak years of his playing career which the Reds could look to benefit from over the next few seasons.
What Will The Guinean Prospect Bring To Merseyside?
Kamano boasts blistering pace which enables him to make some dangerous, darting runs down the left flank. He can also be a lethal presence inside the opposition box but needs to show more creativity if he intends to succeed at the highest level. The Bordeaux wide player only managed to make an average of 0.9 key passes per game in the French top-flight. However, he averaged 2.2 shots per game which explains why he scored 13 goals across all competitions last season (stats via whoscored).
The acquisition of a player of Kamano’s pace and goal-threat will undeniably improve the quality of Klopp’s squad at Anfield ahead of the new season. The Guinea wing wizard will also increase competition for places within the Liverpool squad which might help the club compete on all fronts in the upcoming campaign.
However, there are still some question marks over whether Kamano will be able to cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.
