Today morning, we updated on Rangers reviving their interest for Slavia Prague’s defender Simon Deli. The defender had his release clause set at €2.5m. We had also informed at that time that Rangers will compete with Belgian heavyweights Club Brugge for the signature of Deli.
Now it seems that Club Brugge have stolen a march in the race for the signature of Simon Deli. He apparently got picked up today at the Brussels airport by a delegation of the Belgian club. There is even an image of the player which was taken at the airport (unfortunately we did not get permission to share the image). All of this was captured by a member of the Stannummer forum.
While Gerrard would have loved to bring in this centre-back, it seems that he has to look at other options now. Truthfully, despite Deli’s injury issues, he would have been a stellar addition at Rangers.
