Celtic, the Champions of Scotland, have not only set the standards high with quality first-team recruits but also worked on developing the youth through their esteemed academy set-up. Although they are expecting a fierce title challenge from rejuvenated Rangers after years of monopoly, the transfer of Tobi Oluwayemi from Tottenham Hotspur suggests that the club are still true to their philosophy of nurturing the next generation stars in an era of signings and spending splurge.
The 16-year-old goalkeeper decided not to pen his first professional contract with Spurs and opted to ply his trade to Parkhead instead. He is understandably excited upon completion of his move and did not hide his ecstasy while speaking to the club’s official website.
“I am delighted to be joining Celtic; it really is a dream come true and a massive opportunity for me.”
“I am very excited about this move and I will be working hard, giving everything to the Club to progress and make the most of this great opportunity.”

Who is Tobi Oluwayemi And What Lies Ahead Of Him In Glasgow
Tobi is the younger brother of Joshua Oluwayemi who also plays as a goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur. The teenager has represented England at every international age group and is currently a regular for their U16 side. Karamoko Dembele has been his international teammate, and a discussion with the Bhoys’ sensation might have smoothened talks ahead of this ambitious switch.
“I know Karamoko very well and he has told all about Celtic, the size of the Club, the great supporters and the Club’s tradition for giving young players an opportunity.”
Revealed Oluwayemi after signing a three-year contract. He is set to join the Hoops’ reserve squad on receiving international clearance.
What Should Be His Immediate Target And Long-term Plans
The youngster has a huge platform to prove his talent and must start working his socks off to settle in the new surroundings. He should aim for an immediate place between the sticks while playing for Celtic U18s and impress enough to break into their U23 side within the next couple of campaigns.
It is difficult to grab a senior role at a club like Spurs’ stature, but the player would have his chances in Scotland provided he keeps on maintaining the momentum. He also needs to continue featuring as the ‘number 1’ week in week out.
