In a recent interview with L’Equipe Mercato (via Manchester Evening News), LOSC Lille wide player Nicolas Pepe’s agent provided an update on his client’s future when he said, “Nicolas is open to everything.
“The aim is for him to sign in the right place. PSG is a possibility.
“Today, all parties need to reach an agreement. There are exchanges and discussions.
“He is wanted by a considerable number of clubs.
“For him the most important thing is to be wanted and to go to a good club in which he will play and continue to progress.”
The Sun had reported last month that the Red Devils were considering making a move for the Ligue 1 sensation. Hence, this recent development will be a massive boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s chances of landing the Ivory Coast winger this summer.
Nicolas Pepe’s Remarkable Form For Lille Last Season
Pepe enjoyed a brilliant run of form for the French outfit in the previous campaign when he put in a series of majestic displays on the pitch which helped his team secure a well-deserved second-place finish in the French top-flight.
The 24-year-old registered 23 goals along with 12 assists in 41 matches for the Ligue 1 side in the last term across multiple competitions. The ex-SCO Angers speedster has also managed to earn 11 international appearances for Ivory Coast while scoring four goals for them in the process.
What Will The Ligue 1 Sensation Bring To Old Trafford?
Pepe is one of the fastest players in French football which enables him to make some clever runs behind the opposition backline. The Ligue 1 winger had already proven his value in the last campaign when he was a consistent goal-scorer and an assist-maker for Lille. At 24, he is currently playing at his prime so Man United could immediately benefit from his talents if they can orchestrate a move to bring him to Old Trafford before the start of the new season.
Will Pepe Be A Good Choice For The Red Devils?
The addition of a prolific winger like Pepe will not only improve the depth of Solskjaer’s squad but will also increase competition for players such as Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard at the Theatre of Dreams next season.
Thus, he could prove to be an ideal choice for the Red Devils as long as he can keep up the same level of productivity in the Premier League over the next few years.
