Celtic might have rejected (The Scottish Sun) Arsenal’s latest bid for Kieran Tierney, but the English club remains in pole position to sign the fullback. They are expected to come up with an improved third bid and latest reports from the Scotsman suggests that the Scottish international has conveyed it to his inner circle that he is off to Arsenal soon.
The Hoops recently completed the signing of Boli Bolingoli Mbombo, but it seems like Lennon will have to again dive in the transfer window to sign another left back as Emilio Izaguirre left the club after his contract had expired. Celtic will have good money to replace Tierney as they are likely to sell him for around £25m. Therefore, here are three left backs the Bhoys can consider signing to replace Tierney.
Arthur Masuaku
The West Ham United fullback is a powerful and attack-minded left back who can make a lot of impact for Celtic in the Premiership. Blessed with impressive pace and dribbling skills, he can even turn out in an advanced position down the left flank.
The defender started just half of the Premier League games last season as he is competing for a place with Aaron Creswell. Masuaku is currently in the final year of his contract, and we think that a substantial bid from Celtic might tempt the Hammers to sell their left back.
Marvin Zeegelaar
The former Ajax fullback is a complete powerhouse, and his ability to carry the ball forward and deliver threatening crosses can be a great asset for the Hoops. The 28-year-old played for Udinese on loan last season as Watford had impressive options in the form of Adam Masina and Jose Holebas. Zeegelaar is someone who can dominate physically and is defensively reliable as well. His experience of playing in various leagues over the years will also come in handy for the Hoops.
Milad Mohammadi
The Iranian fullback is currently a free agent after his contract with Russian first division side Akhmat Grozny ran out. Celtic have previously been linked with the 25-year-old on numerous occasions. Mohammadi’s standout asset is his pace and versatility to play as a right back.
The Iranian international is known to be ambidextrous, and he can easily play as a right back as well; a position where Lennon desperately needs to add options. Given his overall ability and the fact that he is available on a free transfer, Celtic should be all over this fullback
