According to a recent report by Leeds Live, Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of sealing a move for Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke during this ongoing transfer window. The same source has revealed that Leeds managing director Angus Kinnear continued talks with the North London outfit yesterday. Leeds Live has also claimed that the English midfielder is currently set to travel to White Hart Lane to finalise his move this summer.
Jack Clarke’s Sensational Rise At Elland Road
The 18-year-old had an incredible season at Leeds as he managed to feature in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team regularly last season. Clarke made 25 appearances for the Whites, registering two goals while creating two assists in multiple competitions.
Even though the York-born talent is still a teenager, he has already begun to put in impressive performances in the second tier of England. However, one can argue whether he is ready to step up to the Premier League just yet.
Clarke came through Leeds United’s youth system and could be nurtured into a top class winger in the future. Spurs are looking to establish long-term success under Mauricio Pochettino so the Whites wonderkid would fit in well at the North London club.
What Will The English Teenager Add To Pochettino’s Team?
Clarke is quick and agile on the ball who can provide some natural width for his team in the opposition half. He is also not afraid to take on his marker in 1v1 situations out in the wide areas. However, he still has a long way to go if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level. At 18, the Leeds prospect has an abundance of time to work on his game and continue developing with each season.
Jack Clarke’s Acquisition: Wise Move For Spurs?
There are only a few better manager than Pochettino who can get the best out of the young players in his squad. The Argentine head coach is one of the best man-managers in world football as evidenced by the recent emergence of players such as Davinson Sanchez, Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks at North London. Not discounting Marcelo Bielsa’s brilliant work with the youngster, but to get to the next level this is a necessary move.
Hence, Clarke could be a shrewd addition to the Tottenham squad as he has the potential to become a world-class winger if given enough opportunities to impress on the field.
