According to the latest reports from the Mirror, Everton are linked with a move for Ajax’s star winger David Neres. The Brazilian international played a crucial role for the Dutch heavyweights last season down the right flank as they surprised everyone by reaching the Champions League semi-finals. They also won the Eredivisie title after a gap of five years.
The winger was recently asked about his supposed link to Everton, but he stayed tight-lipped on that. However, he went on to admit that he would love to play in the Premier League. He said, ”Of course the Premier League interests me. It’s the best league in the world, and I’ve always wanted to play there. But I leave all that (future move) in God’s hands.”
Richarlison- the double agent for Everton
Everton winger and Neres’ countryman Richarlison meanwhile is trying his best to convince the winger to join him at the Goodison Park. This shows that there is actually some real interest from the Toffees for the Ajax man.
Richarlison recently said, ”I’ve spoken to him about it already (coming to Everton). I told him the doors are open for him there, and that he could help us a lot. I hope he comes. He’d be very welcome there. I’ve known him since we played together for Brazil’s U20 side, and he’s a guy I get along with really well.”
Richarlison’s words make it very evident that Everton are interested in him. However, there could be some fierce competition for the winger’s signature after his impressive season.
The 22-year-old is one of the brightest upcoming talents across Europe after the season he had with Ajax. Neres played a whopping 50 games for them in all competitions and contributed with 12 goals and 15 assists. He also scored some crucial goals at the big stage as he scored twice in the Champions League and assisted in two goals as well.
What will Neres bring to Silva’s squad?
Neres has terrific pace and dribbling skills, and like most Brazilians, he has that flair to his game, which makes him a joy to watch. However, he is not just a trickster as he can find the right ball in the final third and finish off chances as well in front of goal. Another one of his standout attributes is his work rate. Neres likes to close down opposition defenders, and he can be a nagging player for the opposition if they are trying to build up from the back.
All in all, he would be a great addition to the Merseyside club and Silva should try everything in his means to get him at the Goodison.
