After a lacklustre 2018/19 season in both the domestic as well as European campaigns, Real Madrid are looking determined to challenge for the major silverware in the next term. They have already secured the signings of several star players in the form of Eden Hazard, Eder Militao and Luka Jovic. The Galacticos are reportedly keeping their tabs on a few more to field a strong enough squad to take on their opponents in the next term.
Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Galacticos could not get the better of their opponents on many occasions throughout the last term. Their form went down drastically against even the weakest of opponents as they somehow managed to finish the season on the third spot in the La Liga table. In the Champions League as well, they managed to make it as far as the round of 16, where they were finally knocked out by the eventual semifinalists Ajax.
The pressure is on the club to bring back the glory days, and they seem to be up to the task as they have already started spending lavishly and have brought in some of the best performers of the last term for their respective team. They have roped in Eder Militao as a viable backup option for both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. The attacking department that looked almost toothless in the last term is expected to get rejuvenated by the inclusion of the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, the players of the 2018/19 season for their respective teams, Eintracht Frankfurt and Chelsea.
In addition to that, speculations are rife that Real Madrid are also looking to add reinforcements to their midfield for the next season. With the likes of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos not being able to bring in their skills to best use against the opposition at any point of the last term, there is undoubtedly the need for new faces to shoulder the responsibility of stabilising the midfield. Reportedly, the Galacticos are striving hard to bring in Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen, both of whom were in decent form in the last term for their respective sides, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
If Los Blancos can complete the signings they are targeting; it is going to be an ensemble squad for manager Zinedine Zidane to work with for the next term. In that case, the Frenchman might field the following side, featuring all the new signings (done and probable) in the next term.
Goalkeeper
With Keylor Navas set to depart, Thibaut Courtois will start in the goal for the Galacticos in the next term. He did not have a good enough campaign in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu and is expected to make amends for his mistakes in his second.
Defence
With Raphael Varane unsure to start in the heart of the backline due to his injury worries and inconsistent performances, Eder Militao would be paired up alongside captain Sergio Ramos. Marcelo would start in the left back position while Dani Carvajal would put in a shift in the right-back role.
Midfield
In case Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen are brought into the side this summer, they might start ahead of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield. Casemiro is expected to start as the defensive midfielder.
Attack
With Luka Jovic coming into the side, the Serbian might get a nod ahead of the veteran striker and the top scorer for Real Madrid from the last term, Karim Benzema. Eden Hazard is set to start from the left as the wide attacker, and Vinicius Junior might get the nod ahead of Gareth Bale to start on the right in the same role.
Predicted Formation: 4-3-3
