According to Diario Madrista, as cited by the Daily Star, Real Madrid are in pursuit of the Portuguese centre back Ruben Dias. The 22-year-old is currently considered as one of the hottest prospects in European football after he played a crucial role in helping his national side win the Nations League against the Netherlands just a few days ago.
Dias also played a pivotal role for his current club Benfica as the Eagles lifted the Primera Liga trophy last season. As per the report, the central defender has recently been tracked by several big-name clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Real Madrid’s Defensive Woes
The Galacticos faced heavy embarrassment in every competition they played in the last term and were unable to win any silverware. None of their players were able to show enough composure on the pitch, including the defensive department. With the likes of Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Nacho not being able to perform consistently, there has been an urge to bring in reinforcements.
Los Blancos have already brought in a new centre back in the form of Eder Militao from Porto and might add more players to their backline. With manager Zinedine Zidane interested in Dias, the Portuguese defender could be the newest addition for the Spanish giants in order to stabilise the backline for the future.

The 22-year-old performed exceptionally well in the backline for Benfica in the last term. His ability to go into challenges fearlessly and make interceptions has made him a prized possession for his side.
In addition to his stellar display for the club, he also did well to strengthen the backline for his national side. In the final of the Nations League, his performance in the Portuguese backline against the Netherlands was exceptional.
Good Fit for Zidane?
As per the report, Zidane is keeping his eyes on the sensational youngster and might look to add him to the squad ahead of the next term. Though Dias doesn’t have any prior experience of playing in La Liga, his composure and ability to vie against the forwards could come in handy for the Galacticos if they can land him this summer.
