According to a recent report by Football.London, Arsenal have launched an enquiry for Inter Milan keeper Andrei Radu who played on loan for Genoa last season. The same source has revealed that the new Inter boss Antonio Conte could explore the option of recalling the keeper and cashing in on him this summer.
In a recent interview with FC Inter News (translated by Football.London), the player’s agent, Crescenzo Cecere said, “The player is from Genoa and has a contract with I Rossoblu for another two years.
“Inter has a right to recall, but if they want to exercise it, it will depend only on them, and we’ll listen to them.
“There are so many teams involved, including Lyon. Recently, there was also an Arsenal enquiry.
“It is a very interesting prospect since he is growing a lot, from all points of view.”
Radu’s Rise To The Top Of Italian Football
Radu came through Dinamo Bucharest’s youth academy before joining the Pergolettese youth team in Italy back in 2013. Inter Milan decided to bring him to the San Siro in the summer of 2013. The Romanian keeper worked his way up Inter’s youth ranks but has only made one appearance for the club thus far.
The 22-year-old was sent out to Genoa last season where he made a name for himself making 33 appearances while conceding 46 goals and keeping six clean sheets across all competitions. He is also the skipper of the Romania Under-21 side and is destined to play an integral role for his nation’s senior team in the coming years.
What Will The Romanian Youngster Offer On The Pitch?
Radu is still a relatively unknown prospect who has managed to impress with his performances for Genoa in the last campaign. The Romanian shot-stopper has decent reflexes that enable him to make important saves for his team. He is also a good distributor of the ball and can retain possession for his team when closed down by the opposition attackers.
However, Radu is far from a finished product and would need to work hard on his game to be a success in European football. The addition of a player of Radu’s potential will undoubtedly bolster Unai Emery’s goalkeeping options in the future. But for now, the Serie A rising star is still not ready to feature every week for a top club like Arsenal next season.
Will Radu Be An Ideal Replacement For Cech?
The departure of Petr Cech this summer will leave a big hole in Emery’s squad, so he needs to find a suitable candidate to replace the former Premier League winner. However, there are more capable options than Radu who can come in during the summer transfer period and provide some healthy competition for Bernd Leno in the upcoming season.
