According to the latest reports from Wales Online, Harry Wilson is facing a crunch few months as he tries to establish himself at Liverpool with clubs like Leeds United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa pondering over a £25m bid. Wolves, Leicester City, Derby County and Bournemouth, have also expressed their interest about the Welsh winger and all of them are open to taking him on loan or permanently.
Among the lot, Leeds United and Derby County are the only Championship sides, and it remains to be seen whether they would really come up with an offer of £25m if the opportunity arises as the reports claim. The Whites are in desperate need of wingers for the next season, and it is no surprise to see them wanting Wilson after his influential spell at Pride Park last campaign where he ended up as Derby County’s top scorer.
It is believed that Klopp is willing to give Wilson a chance in the pre-season and the Reds are set to play around nine games which could make or break his career at Anfield. Therefore with Liverpool willing to test him out in the pre-season, we don’t see any movement for Harry Wilson soon in the transfer market.
The Whites are reportedly looking to sign three wingers for the next season, and they are willing to explore Premier League’s loan market to bolster their squad.
What will Wilson bring to Elland Road?
Championship regulars would be aware of Wilson’s set of skills as he scored 18 goals for the Rams last season. The winger played down the right as an inverted winger, and he often looks to come inside the central areas to affect play. He has a decent pace but isn’t blessed with that searing speed which some wingers have.
Therefore he often makes use of his close control skills to get past his man. The Welshman has a hammer of a left foot and is a specialist free kick taker scoring some memorable goals last season.
Wilson also showcases an impressive work rate, and that should suit the Whites well. He lacks slightly on the physical aspect as he can be shrugged off the ball sometimes too quickly.
Can Leeds United sign him?
The reports might mention that Leeds United are also in the mix to sign him permanently, but we don’t see anything like that happening. With Premier Lague clubs also willing to take him on loan, Klopp is likely going to prefer sending the 22-year-old to a Premier League side. The Reds are anyway looking at him for their first team if he manages to impress in the pre-season. As things stand, we don’t really see the Whites pulling off a deal for Wilson.
