According to Calciomercato, Everton could be in with the opportunity of signing Juventus prodigy Moise Kean. The Italian youth international’s current contract at Juventus expires at the end of next season. But, his contract extension talks are stalling amid speculations linking Matthijs de Ligt with a move to Turin.
The report claims that Kean is looking to play an essential role for Juventus next season. But, the Old Lady could be forced to sell him permanently if they can’t offer regular game time, in which case, Everton are ready to make a €30 million swoop, with Ajax also interested.
Kean is one of the best talents in world football
Kean is regarded as one of those “once in a generation” talents ever since his breakthrough at Hellas Verona in the 2017/18 campaign. The youngster scored four goals in 19 matches with the I Mastini, but his overall influence was far more significant.
As a result, Kean was retained by Juventus last summer and though they were not able to offer him regular game-time, the 19-year-old still impressed with his performances in the limited opportunities he received. Indeed, he scored an impressive five goals in just 533 minutes of league football with a sensational ratio of one goal every 89 minutes.
But, with Gonzalo Higuain returning and Cristiano Ronaldo still playing a prominent role at the club, it’s unlikely Kean will be able to make a breakthrough at the Allianz Stadium next season. Hence, a move away from Turin could be a logical decision.
What is Kean all about?
As far as gameplay is concerned, Kean is a feisty forward, who relies on his physical attributes to not only win back possession for his team but also keep hold of the ball even under steady pressure. His physical prowess combines well with the technical quality that enables him to link-up with teammates in the final third.
His balance and strength become quite useful when leading a counter-attacking charge. But, the fact that he can play quick one-twos and run in behind the backline is what makes him a complete package in the attack. The 19-year-old is also blessed with immense pace and is capable of beating his man in a one-on-one situation. Additionally, he is a versatile attacker who can feature as a left winger as well.
Should Everton make a move for Kean?
Kean will be a valuable signing for Everton given the fact that he could potentially end their attacking woes. Although he is largely untested at the highest level of football, his physical attributes, coupled with his dynamism, could help him thrive in the fast-paced nature of the Premier League.
The Toffees lack any reliable goalscoring options and Kean, in that regard, could be an exciting option, albeit a slightly risky one. But, it’s a risk Marco Silva should take as the Portuguese mastermind seeks to kickstart a new era at the Goodison Park next season.
