Liverpool have finally managed to end their 14-year wait for the UEFA Champions League trophy after they emerged victorious against Spurs at the Wanda Metropolitano last night. Despite the Reds winning the European Cup for the sixth time in history, there is also a feeling of disappointment after Jurgen Klopp’s men narrowly missed out on their first Premier League title this season.
The Reds finished with a record-breaking points tally of 97 points in the recently concluded English top-flight campaign. However, the Merseyside outfit will now look to go one step further and try to win the league title next season ahead of Manchester City.
Here are three players Klopp should consider recruiting during the summer transfer period to ensure Liverpool can end their long wait to become the champions of England.
Nicolas Pepe
The Ivorian winger has been in the form of his life at LOSC Lille after putting in some mesmerising displays for them last season. The 24-year-old has registered 23 goals and 12 assists in 41 matches for the Ligue 1 outfit in the previous campaign across all competitions.
His numbers speak for itself so Liverpool should look to bring him to Merseyside ahead of the new season. Pepe has the potential, and the skillset needed to give the Reds’ an edge in the title race next season.
Bruno Fernandes
The Portuguese midfielder has found the back of the net consistently in the Liga NOS over the past season. His productivity in the previous campaign was nothing short of remarkable as he scored 32 goals and grabbed 18 assists in 53 appearances for Sporting CP in multiple competitions.
Klopp is in dire need of a creative, goal-scoring threat from midfield so Fernandes will fit the bill perfectly at Anfield. He could be the one who can come in and fill the void left by Phillipe Coutinho’s departure at the beginning of last year.
Hirving Lozano
The Mexican attacker has been one of the most prolific young talents in the Dutch Eredivisie over the past couple of years. He has proven his worth time and time again for his club and country.
The PSV Eindhoven sensation is versatile enough to play in multiple positions across the frontline. His incredible versatility and goal-threat will be ideal for the Merseyside giants as they try to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title next season.
