Rangers will travel to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock in their final game of the season. The Gers will look to maintain their hundred percent record after the table split as they have won every game since then. The tie will not have any consequences for Rangers on the table, but Kilmarnock will have a chance to finish third ahead of Aberdeen. The Dons are level on points with the Killie, but the latter has a better goal difference.
The last win against Celtic would have uplifted the mood for Gerrard and Co, and they must be eyeing for an improvement in the upcoming season. They have shown glimpses of what they can do when they are in full swing, and Gerrard would look to end the season on a high.
Team News
Nikola Katic has been allowed to leave the squad early because of u-21 European Championship. Therefore the Croatian defender would be unavailable. Allan McGregor is suspended for this tie. Graham Dorrans and Jamie Murphy will have a chance to prove their worth next season as they have missed almost the entire season due to injury.
Rangers Predicted Lineup vs Kilmarnock
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Wes Foderingham is expected to start in goal for the Bears. Nottingham Forest loanee Joe Worrall is expected to fill in for Nikola Katic. This is likely to be Worrall’s last game in Rangers colours. He should be partnered by Connor Goldson who has been the mainstay for the Gers at the back. Jon Flanagan has done exceedingly well in the last few games as a left back, and he is set to continue in that role. James Tavernier is expected to be in his usual right-back role.
Midfield
Ryan Jack has established himself in the side, and he is set to start in midfield. He should be partnered by January signing Glen Kamara who has made a massive difference since moving to Ibrox. Scott Arfield is expected to be in an attacking midfield role. Ryan Kent is going to operate from the left flank, and this could be his last game as well. Steven Davis is set to start from the right side.
Attack
Jermain Defoe has led the line well in the past few games and even when he hasn’t been scoring, his contribution is there to see. However, Alfredo Morelos should be given a chance to lead in this final game as he is also likely to attract a lot of interest in the transfer market. The striker is one goal away from hitting the 30 goal mark, and he would look to complete that in this tie.
