According to a recent report by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via the Liverpool Echo), Fiorentina are prepared to offer Federico Chiesa a new contract to fend off interest from Liverpool and Juventus during the summer transfer period. The same source has mentioned that La Viola are ready to hand out a new deal with improved terms to the Italian winger so that they can keep him for atleast one more season.
Chiesa’s Brilliant Season At Florence So Far
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign for the Florence club thus far after putting in a string of impressive performances for them in the Serie A during this campaign. The Genova-born talent came through the youth system of Fiorentina before finally breaking into their first-team back in 2016. He has now established himself as a regular starter for Vincenzo Montella’s side and has played a crucial role in helping the Italian outfit steer clear of the relegation zone.
Fiorentina are currently occupying the 13th spot in the league table, a massive 11 points above the drop zone, so Chiesa deserves a lot of credit for his match-winning contributions at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.
The Italian wing wizard has made 37 appearances for the Florence side this term, scoring 12 goals while creating nine assists across multiple competitions. He has also earned 11 international caps for Italy thus far.
What Does The Italian Winger Offer On The Pitch?
Chiesa has a lot of pace to burn and has a decent turn of speed as well which enables him to dribble with the ball down the wings and wreak havoc in the opposition half. The Italy international can also strike the ball with power and accuracy which is why he has developed a knack for registering important goals for his team.
Why Missing Out On Chiesa Could Be A Huge Blow For The Reds?
No doubt missing out on Chiesa could be a massive blow for Liverpool ahead of the new campaign. The Italian prospect would have undoubtedly bolstered Klopp’s attacking options at Anfield. At 21, Chiesa is a player to watch out for in the future, so if he can continue his rapid development as a footballer, then the Reds might regret not pushing harder to secure his services.
However, the fact remains that Chiesa is still unproven outside of Italian football so there is a risk that he might find it difficult coping with Premier League football due to the physical toll that it can take on players.
