Manchester United will travel to West Yorkshire to clash heads with Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Red Devils have dropped a lot of points in the English top-flight over the past few weeks which has all but extinguished their top 4 hopes so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men would not have any room for error this weekend.
The Mancunian outfit will line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation, and this encounter versus the Terriers could see the return of Chris Smalling back to the Man United first-team.
4-3-1-2 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Huddersfield Town
Defence
David De Gea will keep his place in goal for Man United once again despite putting in some dismal displays at the back over the past few weeks. The Spanish keeper is currently struggling to find any form at the moment, so this match versus the Terriers could be an ideal opportunity for him to bounce back and keep a clean sheet on Sunday.
The centre-half duo of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are expected to get the nod to start at the heart of the Red Devils backline as they try to secure a shut-out at the back. Luke Shaw will feature in the left-back position looking to cause a few problems for the Huddersfield Town defenders down the left wing. The experienced campaigner, Ashley Young will operate on the other side as the right-back.
Midfield
The Man United midfield could be comprised of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera as they aim to be creative at the middle of the park and dominate possession for the away side. The talented trio had worked well together against Chelsea last weekend so Solskjaer would hope that they can build on that performance by putting in an impressive display at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday.
Juan Mata could play just ahead of them in the number 10 position, and it is expected that he would have the license to get forward and link up with Rashford and Lukaku in the attacking third of the pitch.
Both Scott McTominay and Fred will be a part of Solskjaer’s bench and might come on during the contest if required.
Attack
The Red Devils will have Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku playing together up top. The duo needs to score goals consistently if the away team are to end this season on a high.
