According to a recent report by the Portuguese news outlet, O Jogo (translated by Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are monitoring the development of Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias and forward Joao Felix ahead of a potential move during the summer transfer window. The same source has revealed that the Red Devils sent their chief scout Marcel Bout to catch the Portuguese duo in action for Benfica during their 4-1 win at the expense of Braga last weekend.
The Recent Success Of The Portuguese Duo
Both youngsters have enjoyed a fantastic breakout campaign after coming through the club’s youth system. They have now finally managed to establish themselves as regular starters in Bruno Lage’s first-team.
Dias has been instrumental in ensuring that his team has one of the meanest defensive records in the Liga NOS. On the other end, Felix has transformed himself into a prolific goal-getter and an assist-maker.
The incredible contributions from both players have helped Benfica climb to the top of the league standings even though they are sitting just two points above second-placed, FC Porto heading into the final few matches of this season.
Dias And Felix’s Records This Season
Dias has made a total of 53 appearances for his club this term and has four goals and three assists to his name in all competitions. More importantly, he has successfully attempted an average of 1.5 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 3.4 clearances per game in the Portuguese top tier thus far.
Felix has featured in 40 matches for the Portuguese outfit this season, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions while providing 11 assists across multiple competitions. Both players are destined to have very promising careers in European football so it could be a massive coup for Man United if they can somehow manage to lure the Portuguese duo to Old Trafford in this off-season.
Will Dias And Felix Be A Good Fit At Manchester United?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in dire need of bringing some defensive reinforcements. He should also focus on recruiting some fresh faces in attack as well. The Reds of Manchester need to build a team for the future so the Portuguese talents will fit the bill perfectly.
