Tottenham Hotspur would entertain Everton at the new White Hart Lane on Sunday after their heroics in midweek when they came back from 3-0 down in the tie to secure qualification into the final of the UEFA Champions League. Spurs are on a high at the moment, and so they would try to close their domestic campaign out with a win this weekend. However, Mauricio Pochettino will be more concerned about his players’ fitness as they would have to avoid injuries if the North London outfit wants to have the best squad available to face Liverpool in the Champions League final next month.
The Argentine head coach could set-up his team in a 4-3-1-2 formation and might let Fernando Llorente play alongside Lucas Moura in the absence of Heung-min Son and Harry Kane.
4-3-1-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Everton
Defence
Hugo Lloris will keep his place in goal for Spurs after he put in an impressive display against AFC Ajax in midweek. Pochettino might choose to go with the centre-back duo of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld for this clash at the new White Hart Lane. The defensive pair will look to work together and put in a commanding shift at the heart of the Spurs defence.
Juan Foyth is not available for selection on Sunday after he has got his marching orders versus Bournemouth last weekend.
Ben Davies will play in the left-back position while Kyle Walker-Peters gets the nod to start on the other side as the right-back. However, it won’t be easy for the Tottenham defenders as they would be expected to keep a clean sheet against a dangerous Everton side who are playing some of their best football of this campaign.
Midfield
Eric Dier will operate in the holding midfield role as he looks to stop the Everton attacks and provide some added protection to the Tottenham backline. Both Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko will look to create openings in the opposition half.
Pochettino could also opt for Dele Alli to play in the number 10 position so that he has the license to wreak havoc in the attacking end of the pitch.
Forward
Spurs are expected to start this weekend’s encounter with Fernando Llorente and Lucas Moura up front.
Moura scored a hattrick versus Ajax in midweek which should give him a lot of confidence heading into this game.
However, Heung-min Son is suspended for this clash after he picked up a red card against Bournemouth last Saturday.
Fortunately for Spurs, Erik Lamela should be available on the bench and might come on during the contest if required.
