Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for quite some time now, and various rumours and reports have done the rounds in the past year that this could be his last season with Chelsea. The Belgian winger will enter in the final year of his contract soon, and he has stalled contract talks with the Blues as of now. Reports from the Express mention that the Chelsea man will complete a £100m move to Real Madrid in the summer.
What did Hazard say after the semi-final?
Recently Chelsea went past Eintracht Frankfurt in a tough Europa League semi-final, and Hazard was asked whether the final in Baku could be his last game in Chelsea colours. The winger replied, ”I don’t think [about] that. I’m only thinking about winning something for this squad, these fans. If it [the final] is my last game I will try to do everything, if it’s not, then I will see. In my mind, I don’t know yet, so that’s it.”
On being asked about whether he is he moving to Madrid, he decided to give the reporter a dummy and said, ”I don’t understand, my friend.”
The winger is clearly trying to keep it a secret, but with every passing day, it’s becoming likely that he is going to move to the Spanish capital. He hasn’t completely ruled out the fact that the Europa League final could be his last game in the Blues so as things stand, we feel that a move is more or less likely.
However, with Champions League qualification in the bag, Chelsea might be hoping for a miracle in the summer. Maybe winning the Europa League would be enough to turn his head. The Blues challenged the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the title at the beginning of the season, but they tapered off soon after and got involved in the top 4 race.
Why are Real Madrid likely to go all out for him?
Real Madrid, on the other hand, aren’t going through a good time themselves as they are going to end up trophyless. However, knowing their ambition and with Zinedine Zidane back at the helm of the club, they would look to change that in the upcoming season. The Galacticos sold Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, and that has cost them in the past year. Therefore they will look to solve that problem by bringing in a talismanic player who can create that magic in the attacking third.
Tough times for Chelsea?
Chelsea are likely to find themselves on a sticky ground as FIFA has banned them for the next two transfer windows. Therefore not only are they going to lose out on Hazard but they wouldn’t be able to bring in a replacement for him. All in all, it seems like the Pensioners might have to endure a tough time in the summer transfer window.
