Rangers might have lost the title to their bitter rivals Celtic once again, but they have a chance to end the season on a high as they take them on for one final time this season at Ibrox. Celtic have got the better of Rangers twice this season, but all the three games were more or less evenly matched. Steven Gerrard already knows how to get the better of Celtic as his side defeated them in December at Ibrox.
Consistency has been a real issue for Rangers as they have played well in patches. Currently, they are going through a good run of form as they have won five games in a row now. Steven Gerrard’s men have been guilty of being far too indisciplined this season, and the gaffer will hope that he can finish the game with all his players on the pitch.
Team News
Allan McGregor is suspended after his red card against Hibernian. Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans are long term absentees. Apart from that, Gerrard will have a strong squad to choose his starting eleven.
Rangers predicted lineup Vs Celtic
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Wes Foderingham is an able deputy, and he will get a chance to prove his worth in a big game. He should start in goal. Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson have played together in the past few games with good results. Therefore we don’t see Gerrard changing that in this all-important tie.
Jon Flanagan has continued to impress as a left back, and he is expected to keep his place. Club captain James Tavernier will be in his usual right-back role to complete the back four.
Midfield
Gerrard has played Ross McCrorie in the middle in the last two games against the Hoops, but he might miss out this time given the form of the other midfielders. Ryan Jack is likely to start in the middle alongside Glen Kamara. The two will have a significant role to play in this game.
Scott Arfield is likely to play as an attacking midfielder. Ryan Kent can change the game in a matter of moments, and he will start down the left flank. His battle with Lustig could be crucial in this clash. Steven Davis is a smart operator, and his energy, movement and touches have been impressive. He should start down the right.
Attack
Alfredo Morelos is unlikely to be trusted by Gerrard in a game of this nature after what he did in the last Old Firm derby. Therefore the experienced English striker Jermain Defoe should lead the line.
