Liverpool will battle it out against Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the UEFA Champions League at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night hoping to improve on last year and win the European Cup for the sixth time in the club’s illustrious history. However, Spurs won’t be any push-overs as they will feel like it is their destiny to lift the prestigious trophy after mounting a last-gasp comeback against Ajax in the semi-finals.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to opt for a 4-3-3 formation and will have Roberto Firmino back for this season-defining game in Europe.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Alisson Becker will start in goal for the Reds hoping to keep a clean sheet against Spurs this weekend. The Brazilian keeper won the Premier League’s golden glove award for securing the most clean sheets in this campaign so he would be quietly confident heading into this clash.
Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip are expected to get the nod to start versus Tottenham due to their stellar defensive form in recent weeks. The centre-back duo would look to cope with the threat of Heung-min Son and Harry Kane (if he starts) on Saturday night, but it won’t be easy for them due to the quality of the opposition.
Both Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez will have to settle for a place on Klopp’s bench.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will once again operate as the right-back as he would look to provide a good outlet for his teammates and put in some dangerous crosses into the Spurs penalty box. Andrew Robertson will look to do the same on the other side as the left-back. Both Liverpool full-backs have enjoyed a brilliant campaign thus far so we can expect them to supply the ammunition for the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino in the final third.
Midfield
Klopp might be tempted to go with the hardworking midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum as he looks to play things a bit safe in the final. James Milner will undoubtedly be an option on the Reds bench and might get a chance to feature in the match if needed.
Forward
Roberto Firmino has managed to win the race against time to be fit for this European showdown at Madrid. The Brazilian forward will lead the line alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as they look to stretch the pitch and cause lots of problems for Mauricio Pochettino’s defenders.
Both Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri will be available on the bench and might come on during the final if required.
