According to a recent report by Sky Sports, Juan Cuadrado is keen on staying at Juventus beyond this summer despite reports linking him with a move to West Ham United in the upcoming transfer window. In a recent interview with Sky Italy, the former Chelsea winger said, “I’m very happy with the club, the city and the people. My family is happy here, I still have one year until my contract runs out but it doesn’t only depend on me.
“I always try and do my best and I would be very happy to stay here.”
The Colombia international’s recent words will be quite discouraging for Manuel Pellegrini’s chances of landing him this summer. The 30-year-old had to endure a difficult campaign in the Serie A this season as he has still not managed to secure a regular starting berth at the Juventus Stadium.
Cuadrado’s Struggles In The Serie A This Season
He has struggled to find a level of consistency with his performances on the pitch this season. The South American sensation has featured in 19 matches for the Turin outfit this term, scoring one goal while creating three assists in all competitions. Cuadrado also has a vast amount of experience at the international level having represented Colombia in 78 matches while registering eight goals for them across multiple tournaments.
What Does The Colombian Winger Offer On The Pitch?
The Juve winger boasts blistering pace and is a very penetrative dribbler with the ball at his feet. He can also link up play well with his teammates in the opposition half but is in dire need of adding more end-product to his game. Cuadrado has been guilty of being wasteful in the final third which is why his numbers this season are quite unimpressive for a player of his talents.
Missing Out On Cuadrado: Big Blow For Pellegrini?
Missing out on the Colombian speedster will undoubtedly be a huge blow for the Hammers as he could have been a shrewd acquisition for Pellegrini ahead of the new campaign. However, maybe it could be a blessing in disguise as West Ham should consider bringing in more proven talents and not settle for top-level rejects like Cuadrado.
The South American wide man had failed to prove his worth during his spell at Chelsea, so there is no guarantee that he won’t do the same again this time around if he made a move to England. At 30, Cuadrado’s game is on the decline so the Hammers could do far better than the Juve outcast in the summer transfer market.
