In a recent interview with German publication Die Welt (via the Daily Express), Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Luka Jovic admitted that the Premier League would suit his playing style and said, “From my experience in the Europa League, I would say that some other leagues in Europe are more suited to me and my way of playing football.
“In terms of the physique, the Bundesliga is very demanding, but after the games against Chelsea or Inter Milan, I personally had the feeling that I could feel even better [playing] in the Premier League or Serie A.
“The way the teams play there suits me better.
“I’m looking forward to seeing my level compared to the best players in the world.
“One thing is clear: I want to succeed in my career.”
Chelsea will welcome Jovic’s latest comments as they have been linked with the Bundesliga forward in the recent past (via the Daily Express). His desire to play in the top tier of England could pave the way for him to join Stamford Bridge at the end of this campaign.
Jovic’s Breakout Season In The Bundesliga
The Serbian sensation has enjoyed a very productive campaign with Frankfurt after putting in numerous match-winning performances for them during the recently concluded Bundesliga season. The Red Star Belgrade academy product has registered 27 goals and created seven assists in 48 matches for the German side this term across all competitions.
Jovic has also represented Serbia at every youth rank from Under-16 onwards and is currently an integral member of Mladen Krstajić’s senior team. The 21-year-old has earned four international caps for Serbia and has scored one goal for his nation thus far.
What Will The Serbian Forward Add To Sarri’s Side?
Jovic has decent pace in his locker, which enables him to make dangerous runs behind the opposition defence. He has also transformed himself into a prolific goal-scorer in the final third. The Serbia international is not short on confidence as evidenced by his recent comments, but the jury is still out on whether he will be able to prove his worth outside German football.
Should Sarri Move In For Jovic?
Jovic has all the skillset to succeed in the Premier League as long as he can withstand the physical toll of English football. The acquisition of the Serbian forward will undoubtedly bolster Maurizio Sarri’s attacking options at Stamford Bridge as he would add more goals and assists to the Pensioners frontline. Thus, it could prove to be a shrewd signing if Sarri can find a way to delay FIFA’s impending two-transfer window ban and bring Jovic to West London in this offseason.
