Tottenham Hotspur will play hosts to Manchester City at the new White Hart Lane on Tuesday night hoping to get a win in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie. Spurs managed to secure a victory against Crystal Palace earlier this month in the same venue which should give them some confidence ahead of this clash.
However, the Citizens are in a rich vein of form as they are currently on a 14-match winning streak so Spurs would have their hands full in midweek. Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 3-4-1-2 formation and might give Harry Winks a start as he looks to add more protection to the Spurs midfield.
3-4-1-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Hugo Lloris will play in between the sticks as Pochettino’s first-choice goalie after keeping a much-needed clean sheet against the Eagles in midweek. Spurs could opt for a back three of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen as they attempt to stop the Citizens from scoring on Tuesday night.
The North London outfit have kept just two shutouts in their past seven outings across all competitions. So there is a lot of room for improvement from Pochettino’s defenders if they are to finish the season strong by securing a few favourable results over the coming weeks.
Midfield
Both Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko will feature as the holding midfielders as they look to retain possession in midfield by building attacks from the back. Danny Rose will operate on the left flank as he aims to prevent Kyle Walker from going forward and putting in some decent crosses from the left. Kieran Tripper will also look to put in a tireless shift on the right wing.
Christian Eriksen will play in the number 10 position as he tries to link the Spurs midfield with their front players. He needs to have a good game if the home side are to grind out a positive result against Man City.
Attack
Pochettino is expected to start both Harry Kane and Heung-min Son up front. The dynamic attacking duo will aim to share the goal-scoring workload at their new stadium.
Son got his name on the scoresheet against Palace which will give him an injection of confidence heading into their midweek European encounter.
