It was a hard-fought match between West Ham United and Leicester City in the Premier League at the London Stadium that ended in a 2-2 draw. The Hammers thought they did enough to get a win, but Leicester City came back well in the match with two equalising goals in the second half and spoilt the day for the hosts.
The Hammers struck first late in the first half through Michail Antonio as he headed the ball past Kasper Schmeichel. The Foxes replied via Jamie Vardy as the Englishman directed the ball into the net off a cross from Ben Chilwell. The hosts went back into the lead via Lucas Perez who latched onto a rebound from Pedro Obiang that came off the bar. But the visitors had the last laugh as they snatched away a point from the crucial away game via Harvey Barnes’ fine finish in the 92nd minute of the match.
Here is how the West Ham United players were rated from their draw against Leicester City.
Lukasz Fabianski: 6
Could do nothing to prevent both the goals. Made some excellent saves throughout the match but should be disappointed with the final result.
Arthur Masuaku: 6
Looked good in the first half while defending. Lost his composure in the face of constant opposition attacks and gave a lot of space to the attackers to take advantage of on the day.
Fabian Balbuena: 5
Completely off colour on the day as he let Jamie Vardy and Barnes have free runs on goal for both the goals. Seemed to be struggling with his fitness.
Angelo Ogbonna: 6
Had a decent first half followed by a disappointing second half. Could have done better to challenge Vardy for the first goal.
Pablo Zabaleta: 6
Ran well with the ball into the opposition half to help initiate the attacks. Looked fatigued in the second half though.
Declan Rice: 7
Kept getting the ball away from his half and made some crucial interceptions to break down the opposition attacks. Passed the ball accurately to initiate attacks as well.
Mark Noble: 6.5
Got into several tussles in the middle of the pitch and on the wings. Put a brilliant cross to find Antonio in the box to open the scoring. Looked a little fatigued in the second half.
Robert Snodgrass: 5.5
Could not cope with the pressure put in by the physical presence of Tielemans in the midfield area. Gave away the ball quite a few times as well. Played good linkup with Noble to initiate the attack for the second Hammers goal.
Michail Antonio: 7
Looked like a livewire throughout the match for his side. Scored a brilliant goal as he played over the shoulders of Harry Maguire to open the scoring. Could have added to his tally but did not take his chances.
Marko Arnautovic: 5.5
A lacklustre performance from the striker as he could not pose any significant threat for the opposition defence. Was substituted in the second half.
Substitutes
Pedro Obiang: 6.5
His physicality helped him win tussles in the midfield. It was his shot that bounced off the post to get Perez his only goal of the match.
Lucas Perez: 5.5
Nothing significant from the Spaniard as he came on for Arnautovic other than the goal he scored off the rebound.
Jack Wilshere: NA
Great to see him back on the pitch. However, he played too little to warrant a rating.
