Celtic took on league strugglers St. Mirren and secured a comfortable 2-0 victory, in the end, to continue towards their goal of achieving a ‘treble treble’.
As expected, Celtic dominated the proceedings and the possession. St. Mirren found it hard to get out of their half, and they sat back and defended in numbers. Timothy Weah opened the scoring for the Hoops after his header just about crossed the line after a scrap inside the box. Olivier Ntcham could have doubled the advantage before half time, but the former Manchester City midfielder missed a penalty.
The second half followed a similar pattern, but the Hoops were unable to kill the game off until late in the match. Ryan Christie who came off the bench, doubled the advantage to put the game to bed. Here is how Lennon’s men fared on the night.
Scott Bain 6
Was a spectator in the game for most parts. Made one crucial save early in the second half.
Kristoffer Ajer 8
Was calm and composed and played the ball well from the back. Could have scored in the first half after a smart run inside the box. Cleared a late attempt from St. Mirren off the line.
Jozo Simunovic 7
Wasn’t troubled much defensively. Looked assured in possession.
Emilio Izaguirre 7
Did well defensively. Always provided an option down the left by playing high up the pitch. Delivered some delicious crosses.
Mikael Lustig 7
Could have got himself on the scoresheet but atleast managed to provide an assist for the first goal.
Scott Brown 7
Moved the ball well and helped his side defensively when required.
Callum McGregor 7.5
Made his comeback and called the shots from midfield. Always looked to move the ball forward and played some incisive passes to find his team-mates in the box.
Olivier Ntcham 5.5
His movement was sharp, but the midfielder often looked clumsy in possession. Took a poor penalty.
James Forrest 7
Drove the ball forward with intensity and was one of the brightest players on the pitch in the final third.
Timothy Weah 6.5
Was at the right place at the right time to head the ball home from close quarters in the first half. Was alright apart from that.
Oliver Burke 5
His touch was often way off. Got into some good positions to let the shot away but often the Scottish international scuffed his attempts.

Celtic fans would be glad to see him back on the pitch. Scored brilliantly from outside the box.

Made an impact with a marauding run.
Filip Benkovic N/A
Wasn’t tested much defensively after coming on.
