Newcastle United got the better of Southampton in their last game, and they sit comfortably on the 13th spot after two back to back wins. Next, they will travel to the Falmer stadium to take on Brighton. Now the Seagulls might be clear of Cardiff City by three points with a better goal difference, but Chris Hughton would desperately want to take points from this game as his side will face Arsenal and Manchester City in the last two fixtures.
Brighton surely wouldn’t want to keep their hopes of survival in the Premier League on getting points against the two heavyweights so Newcastle can expect a hard-fought game. The Seagulls are a tough nut to crack at home, and the Magpies will surely have their task cut out.
Team News
Miguel Almiron is out for the season as he suffered an injury in the last game. Fabian Schar is also going to be a major doubt. Young sensation Sean Longstaff is not expected to recover in time.
Newcastle United Predicted Lineup Vs Brighton And Hove Albion
Formation (5-4-1)
Defence
Martin Dubravka is expected to start in goal once again for the Magpies. With Schar injured, Federico Fernandez is likely to start. Jamaal Lascelles will play in the centre of the back 5. Paul Dummett should be on the left of his captain.
DeAndre Yedlin could return to the lineup as a right back. Winger Matt Ritchie has been extremely useful for his side in the full back role down the left, and he will be once again asked to do a job in a similar position.
Midfield
Mohamed Diame could start in midfield alongside Ki Sung Yueng. Jonjo Shelvey is likely to be overlooked once again. Ayoze Perez scored a superb hat-trick in the last clash against the Saints, and he is expected to start from the right flank. The Spaniard would often drift inside and take up central areas to support the lone striker up front.
United’s record signing Miguel Almiron is done for the season, and that is going to be a big miss for the club. Summer signing Yoshinori Muto might get a rare start in the team down the left flank. Christian Atsu is also going to be in contention to start, but we are going in with the Japanese attacker.
Attack
29-year-old striker Salomon Rondon has done a terrific job in leading the line for the Tyneside outfit this season, and he should once again start as the man up front.
