It was a dominant performance from Tottenham Hotspur in their own backyard as they decimated Huddersfield Town by 4-0. The already relegated Terriers looked utterly down and out of the contest from the very first whistle as Spurs looked to press, even without their talisman Harry Kane.
It was Victor Wanyama who opened the scoring for the north London club as he received Ben Davies’ cross after Fernando Llorente laid it off for him. After that, it was all Lucas Moura for Spurs as he took on a troubled looking Huddersfield defence and scored a brilliant hat-trick to lead his side to a 4-0 win.
Here is how the Tottenham players were rated from their dominating win against Huddersfield Town.
Hugo Lloris: 7
Had a quiet time in the goal with nothing much to do throughout the match. Had to make only one save as he left the field with a clean sheet to his name.
Juan Foyth: 7
Looked in good form as he did not let the Huddersfield attackers get the better of him. Made some excellent tackles as well.
Davinson Sanchez: 7
His physicality was too much to take for the opposition players. Put in a solid shift in the heart of the defence.
Jan Vertonghen: 6.5
A calm and composed performance as he made sure nothing went past him. Looked a little fatigued towards the end but the Terriers could not advantage of that.
Ben Davies: 7
Looked to get the ball up the pitch whenever he had the chance. Delivered a very good ball into the box to initiate the opening goal.
Kyle Walker-Peters: 6
Tried his level best to get the ball up the pitch but failed to beat the opposing defence with his crossing. Put in a good shift while defending though.
Victor Wanyama: 6.5
Scored his first goal of the season to break the deadlock. Did well with his physicality in the midfield as well. Looked a little tired towards the end of the match.
Moussa Sissoko: 7
Initiated attacks from the midfield with his accurate passing, one of which resulted in Moura’s opening goal. Made some intelligent interceptions as well.
Christian Eriksen: 7
Took the onus of keeping the ball rolling in the middle of the pitch in the absence of Dele Alli. Played some excellent passes into the box and assisted Moura for his second goal with an inch-perfect delivery.
Fernando Llorente: 6
Could have scored the first goal but was unselfish enough to lay it off for Wanyama to take the credit. Took a few knocks in the second half and looked a little sedate after that.
Lucas Moura: 9
An absolutely prolific performance from the Brazilian as he grabbed the opportunity to lead the line with both hands. His hat-trick was a result of sheer perseverance and never say die attitude that reflected in his game throughout the match. An absolute pleasure to watch.
Substitutes
Oliver Skipp: 6
Did well in his cameo after he came on in the second half.
Danny Rose: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
Son Heung-Min: 6.5
Delivered a brilliant pass to open up the defence and help Moura to his hat-trick. Tormented the Huddersfield defenders with his classy skills in the short period he was on the pitch.
