Rangers will take on Hearts this weekend, and the Bears have enjoyed a good run against the Jambos as they have defeated them on all the occasions this season. Hearts were leading the table briefly in the initial phase, but they have slipped to the sixth spot.
Gerrard’s men are trailing Celtic by 11 points, and they should want to delay the inevitable 8th title in a row for Lennon’s men. After the latest defeat in the Old Firm derby, Rangers put on two impressive performances as they trounced Motherwell and Hearts. Rangers should look to end the season on a strong note so that they can take that positive momentum into the next season.
Team News
Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are going to miss out due to suspension. Borna Barisic could be closing in on a return. Graham Dorrans and Jamie Murphy are long term absentees. Apart from them, everyone should be fit and raring to go after the long break as Rangers were already out of the Scottish Cup.
Rangers predicted lineup Vs Hearts of Midlothian
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor is set to continue in between the sticks for Rangers. He should be shielded by the defensive pair of Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic. With just five games to go in the season, we feel that it is time for Gerrard to give Katic his chances as he is likely to be the first choice centre back once Joe Worrall’s loan spell ends. Therefore there is no point in trying out Worrall now.
Andy Halliday should take place in the left back spot as Barisic is unlikely to be a hundred per cent fit and match ready. James Tavernier is a nailed on starter on the right side of the defence.
Midfield
Gerrard found success in the last game when he used the two midfield pivot, and we expect him to continue with this formula once again. Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara should start in central midfield. Ryan Jack will be in a slightly conservative role wheres Kamara would look to get on the ball and influence play.
Scott Arfield scored a hat-trick starting from the left, but we would like to see him in the no. 10 role. Glenn Middleton should get the nod to start down the left flank in the absence of Ryan Kent. Daniel Candeias should keep his place on the right.
Attack
Jermain Defoe is expected to lead the line in the absence of Morelos.
