Barcelona will play hosts to Manchester United at the Nou Camp hoping to build on their 1-0 advantage from the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie. The Catalans will fancy their chances of progressing into the semi-finals of the competition having rested most of their star players versus Huesca last weekend.
However, the Mancunian outfit has shown in the past that they are not shy of making second-leg comebacks after eliminating Paris Saint-Germain in the last round by securing an unlikely 3-1 win away at Paris.
Barca would hope that they can deal with the threat of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s front players. Ernesto Valverde might opt for a 4-3-3 formation with most of his star players set to return to action in midweek.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Marc Andre ter Stegen will start as Valverde’s first-choice goalie while Jasper Cillessen has to be content with a spot on the Catalans bench. Both Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet should get the nod to begin the match at the heart of the Barca defence.
Samuel Umtiti might be named on the bench so he could come on and make an impact in the second half if required.
Nelson Semedo will operate as the right-back after his impressive display in the first leg. Jordi Alba should also retain his place at left-back as he tries to use his blistering pace down the left flank to cause a few problems for the Man United defenders.
The home side would fancy their chances of keeping another clean sheet at the back especially with their loyal supporters cheering for them on at the Nou Camp.
Midfield
Valverde could opt to go with the midfield trio of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur Melo as they look to dictate play and stop Man United from creating chances at the middle of the park.
Both Sergi Roberto and Arturo Vidal might come off the bench in the second half to provide some fresh legs in midfield.
Attack
The Catalans could start with a front three made up of Phillipe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. The talented Barca trio will look to link up play with each other and wreak havoc in and around the Man United penalty box.
None of them managed to score against the Red Devils in the first-leg and so they would be eager to find the back of the net on Tuesday night.
