Manchester United will travel to the Nou Camp to face off against Barcelona on Tuesday night hoping to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit in their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie. The Red Devils managed to bounce back from their loss against Barca in midweek by beating West Ham United with a 2-1 scoreline on Saturday. However, visiting the Catalan giants might be a daunting task for them especially when they are trailing by a goal from the first leg.
If Barca are playing at their best, then we could see Man United struggle away from home. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will believe that his team might have more than a puncher’s chance of progressing into the semi-finals if the likes of Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba can have a significant influence in this match.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Barcelona
Defence
David De Gea will begin this contest in goal despite failing to keep a clean sheet in his last nine outings across all competitions. The Spanish goalie will be supported by the central defensive duo of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof as they try to cope with the threat of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi on Tuesday night.
Luke Shaw is suspended for this clash and so Ashley Young might get a start as a makeshift left-back which could leave the right-back spot open for Diogo Dalot. The Red Devils defenders have leaked in a lot of goals at the back in recent weeks, so Solskjaer needs to figure out a plan to get the best performance out of his current crop of players and ensure his team has a chance of progressing to the next stage of Europe’s biggest cup competition.
Midfield
The Man United boss might choose to go with the midfield three of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera as they look to stop Barca from dominating possession at the centre of the pitch. Pogba scored a brace via his two penalty conversions against West Ham United last weekend which should give him some confidence heading into this clash at the Nou Camp.
Both Fred and Scott McTominay might start on the bench and come on during the latter stages of the encounter if required.
Attack
The Mancunian outfit could start with the pacey front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard up front. They would be responsible for scoring the goals which would help Man United make an unlikely comeback at Catalunya on Tuesday night.
