A lot happened in the promotion race for the Premier League today. Sheffield United dropped points late in extra time while their rivals Sheffield Wednesday went down tamely to Leeds United in a 1-0 defeat at Elland Road.
This result puts the Whites firmly in control for the automatic promotion place for the Premier League. With just 4 games to go, we simply cannot see Leeds United letting go of their advantage. Stranger things have happened but still!
Going through twitter though, we found a strange phenomenon (not too strange if you think about it though). A sizeable chunk of the Sheffield United fans were slagging off Sheffield Wednesday for not doing better. A quick look through the hashtags #sufc and #twitterblades did not make for great reading.
Some tweets were filled with profanities while others were lamenting the fact that you cannot rely on your rivals after failing to do a job yourself. Have a look at the tweets below and you will get the picture yourself.
Useless Wednesday bastards. They’ll pretend they are happy but that’s their season done..again! Get behind the Blades, we can do this still. We are going to have to battle but when arent we the underdogs!? #sufc #twitterblades #believe

You make your own luck. But this just underlines why you can never trust that shower in blue and white. #twitterblades #sufc

Simply not good enough.
If you’re hanging your promotion hopes on the likes of second rate footballers like “Bazza” Bannan and “Nandos” Forestieri then you don’t deserve to go up!#sufc #swfc #lufc— Trevor Allison (@Trev_Allison) April 13, 2019
