Leeds United have been linked with a move for Everton’s winger Yannick Bolaise. A few days ago, reports came out that Anderlecht are unlikely to sign him again as the player hopes to return to England to carry on with his footballing career.
Bolaise is currently on loan with Belgian heavyweights Anderlecht. We thought that this was a positive update for Leeds United as the player was keen on playing in England. However, latest reports from Belgian outlet Walfoot indicates that the Whites are yet to open a dialogue with Bolaise for a possible transfer in the summer.
Why Leeds United are waiting?
We believe that United’s transfer plans could be on hold until it is clear which division they might end up playing in the next season. The Whites are chasing promotion, and they are in a tight battle with Sheffield United for the last automatic promotion spot.
If the club manages to move to the Premier League, their transfer plans can drastically change as the club would need to prepare for life in the top division. The promotion also comes with a massive windfall of financial benefits which the club can use during the transfer period. So it is understandable why Leeds United have not yet opened talks with Bolasie even though they have been strongly linked with him.
Will Bolasie be a good transfer?
We are not sure regarding the Bolasie transfer at the moment. On his day, the winger can destroy defenders down the flank as the 29-year old possess terrific pace and dribbling skills. He has the ability to change the game in a matter of moments, and maybe someone like Bielsa can get the best out of him.
However, the winger is on a decline, and he has been far too inconsistent throughout his career. We still believe that he can be a handy addition in the Premier League though. Bielsa can use him as an impact substitute or a squad player in the English top flight. Given the fact that the Whites have so little option on the left flank, Bolasie will be a handy addition to the squad next summer.
Jack Harrison will depart from the club after his loan spell ends and Ezgjan Alioski has looked much better as a fullback than as a winger. So Bielsa needs to add options in the left wing spot. Bolasie can be a hit and miss kind of player, but the raw ability and explosive pace which he brings to the table should be enough for the Whites to make a move for him.
