Rangers will host Aberdeen at Ibrox for one final time this season. More than Celtic, Aberdeen has been the real thorn for the Bears this campaign. The Dons got the better of their rivals in both the domestic cup games and Gerrard’s men have only defeated them once in six clashes this season.
The Gers will be keen to prove that they are the second best team in Scotland right now as many still believe that Aberdeen might be the best team around after Celtic. We are expecting a high voltage encounter even though both the sides don’t have much to play for in the league. Rangers have an 8 point lead over Aberdeen and Gerrard would hope that he can get one over Dereck McInnes which should act as a good morale boost to the rookie manager and his players.
Team News
Ryan Kent is going to be available after he served his suspension for having a jab at Scott Brown in the Old Firm derby. Alfredo Morelos is still out with suspension. Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans are long terms absentees. Borna Barisic is likely to miss out due to injury.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Aberdeen
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor is expected to start in goal once again. Nikola Katic has done well in the last few games, and he should start over Joe Worrall. Connor Goldson is going to partner him in the heart of the defence. Jon Flanagan hasn’t done much wrong, and he should start over Andy Halliday in the left-back role in the absence of Borna Barisic. James Tavernier will keep his place as a right back once again.
Midfield
Ryan Jack is expected to play in the deepest role in midfield. Glen Kamara has been a Rolls Royce in midfield for the Bears, and he will feature once again in central areas. Scott Arfield played in a more attacking role in the absence of Ryan Kent, but the Canadian should be in a box to box role in this game against the Dons. The midfield three would need to be at their best as Aberdeen are known to play a more physical and high-intensity game, and we can expect some tackles flying in.
Ryan Kent is expected to play from the left flank after serving his suspension. He will often drift into central areas to affect the game more. Daniel Candeias should operate from the right.
Attack
Veteran English forward Jermain Defoe is in decent form, and he is expected to lead the line.
