Chelsea will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday looking to consolidate their place in the top 4 with a win. The Pensioners could only manage to claim a draw from their encounter versus Burnley in midweek so Maurizio Sarri will be desperate to get the three points against the Red Devils.
The West London giants will lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Gonzalo Higuain set to lead the charge up front.
4-3-3 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will play as Chelsea’s first-choice keeper on Sunday even though he conceded two goals each in his last two league starts against Liverpool and Burnley respectively. The defensive pair of Andreas Christensen and David Luiz will protect the Spanish goalie as they try to put in a strong performance at the centre of Sarri’s backline. Cesar Azpilicueta will be deployed as the right-back while Emerson Palmieri operates in the left-back position.
Marcos Alonso has had a dip in form in the second half of this campaign so he would have to be content with a place on the Chelsea bench. The Pensioners need to make sure that they don’t lose this match so that the club are in an ideal position to qualify for the top 4 at the end of this campaign.
Midfield
The West London outfit might lineup with the midfield three of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic as they look to dominate possession in midfield and facilitate plays going forward. N’Golo Kante is a significant doubt for this game so he might not be risked to start in this match versus Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
If the Pensioners can find a way to dictate proceedings at the middle of the park, then they would have the advantage of pushing on and getting the all-important win this Sunday.
Attack
Sarri’s front three would include Eden Hazard and Pedro operating as the wingers on the flanks while Gonzalo Higuain gets another chance to shine as a centre-forward up top. The Argentine talent had a good game against Burnley in midweek which should give him some confidence heading into this clash versus the Red Devils.
Olivier Giroud will be available on the bench and might come on during the contest if required.
