Manchester United faced off against Everton earlier today hoping to get a win at Goodison Park. The Red Devils began the match a bit slow and were punished in the 13th minute when Richarlison scored the opening goal of the game. Gylfi Sigurdsson doubled the home side’s lead just 15 minutes later when he scored from long range. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men failed to turn up in the second half and conceded two more goals on their way to a disastrous 4-0 defeat on the day.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player performed during the match against the Toffees.
GK: David De Gea – 3/10
It was another poor display from the Spanish shot-stopper. He could have done better while attempting to save Sigurdsson’s shot in the first half and was also guilty of not reacting in the lead up to Lucas Digne’s goal.
RB: Victor Lindelöf – 2/10
He was played as a makeshift right-back when Bernard exposed his weaknesses down the wide areas. Lindelof operated as a centre-half in the second half but put in another bland display.
CB: Chris Smalling – 2/10
The English defender was not strong enough to withstand the pressure of the Everton attackers and ended up allowing four avoidable goals at the back.
CB: Phil Jones – 2/10
He looked out of sorts in defence in the first half. Jones was rightfully subbed at half-time.
LB: Diogo Dalot – 3/10
The Portuguese talent found it difficult performing in a position unfamiliar to him. It was another dismal display from him.
CM: Paul Pogba – 2/10
The Frenchman was not willing to work hard for his team and was a passenger throughout his time on the pitch.
CM: Nemanja Matic – 2/10
The Serbian midfielder failed to track back the Everton forwards and didn’t help out his teammates in the Man United half.
CM: Fred – 2/10
The Brazilian was ineffective in the first half. He should be nowhere near Solskjaer’s first-team based on his performance today.
RM: Marcus Rashford – 3/10
The English forward failed to convert any of the chances that fell in his path.
ST: Romelu Lukaku – 2/10
The Toffees attackers physically dominated the Belgian forward. Lukaku needs to be dropped soon.
LM: Anthony Martial – 2/10
The French forward missed a sitter in the second half. Martial looked frustrated during the game and his dive summed up Man United’s disastrous day at Merseyside.
Substitutes:
RB: Ashley Young – 3/10
He added some experience to Solskjaer’s backline but was unable to stop the Everton attackers from scoring two more goals in the second half.
CM: Scott McTominay – 6/10
He worked hard and brought some bite to the Man United midfield.
CM: Andreas Pereira – 3/10
The youngster didn’t add much to the contest.
