It was a disappointing outing for Tottenham Hotspur against West Ham United in the Premier League as the Hammers notched up a victory against Spurs. Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the match as West Ham United became the first away team to register a win at the new stadium at White Hart Lane this season.
Tottenham were undone by the lack of firepower in the absence of Harry Kane. Mauricio Pochettino played every card available to get at least one point from the match, and his desperation was evident from the deployment of Vincent Janssen. However, the Dutchman did not fail to dish out another disappointing performance as the visitors took all three points from the match.
Here is how the Tottenham Hotspur players were rated from their loss against West Ham United.
Hugo Lloris: 6
Did well to keep the opposition players away from the goal in the first half. Conceded one in the second half to spoil all his good efforts though.
Juan Foyth: 6.5
Kept his composure throughout the match to keep the likes of Anderson and Arnautovic at bay. Took a few knocks in the process as well.
Davinson Sanchez: 7
Did superbly to vie with the physicality of Antonio and keep him quiet for a long time. Made some excellent clearances and interceptions throughout the match.
Toby Alderweireld: 6
Kept playing on Arnautovic’s shoulders and got the ball cleared on most occasions. Could have done better to prevent Antonio from scoring the goal.
Ben Davies: 6
Tried to get the ball up the pitch as he ran forward. His backtracking was not great though.
Eric Dier: 7
Made some very good tackles and interceptions to dispossess the opposition in the middle of the pitch. Competed well with Noble for the ball.
Danny Rose: 6
Tried his level best to play down the left flank but was well handled by Fredericks. Was substituted in the second half.
Christian Eriksen: 7
Did well to get the ball forward and initiate attacks from the midfield whenever possible. His passes were as accurate as possible.
Dele Alli: 6.5
His classy footwork created some problems for Diop. However, the Frenchman handled his threat well in the second half as Alli could not get his shots away.
Son Heung-Min: 6
Looked like a threat in the first half but not so much in the second. A rather dull match for the phenomenal forward.
Lucas Moura: 6
Tried to get into the box and get his shots away. However, he was well guarded by the frame of Balbuena and could not cause a lot of trouble to the opposition.
Substitutes
Fernando Llorente: 5
A disappointing spell for the veteran Spaniard.
Vincent Janssen: 4
Did not forget to disappoint, yet again.
Victor Wanyama: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
