Barcelona have sloppily dropped points from their trip to Huesca where they failed to score a single goal against the team which has nearly the worst record in the entire Spanish top flight. The two sides who are separated by a whopping 49 points played out a goalless draw.
Barcelona fielded a make-shift starting eleven and paid the price for it in the form of two lost points. Kevin Prince Boateng failed to find the back of this occasion. It will be difficult for the Barcelona board to make a list of reasons regarding why he should remain at the club beyond this season.
Ernesto Valverde’s main squad players like Messi, Rakitic, Busquets got some deserved rest ahead of a high profile match against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.
Here’s how Barcelona fared in their stalemate against bottom-placed Huesca.
Ter Stegen – 7/10
Remained largely untroubled except for one shot which was aimed directly at goal.
Todibo – 7/10
A good defensive performance from Todibo. Made the most of his appearance in the absence of many first-team players.
Murillo – 7/10
The Valencia loanee stood like a heavy rock in front of the Huesca attacks. Would be pleased with his performance on the afternoon.
Samuel Umtiti – 7/10
One of Umtiti’s best performances post his return. Seemed to be right on top of his game
Wague – 7/10
A good spirited effort by the youngster. Picked up a yellow card in the dying moments of the game.
Carlos Aleña – 7/10
Had a very quiet evening. Did not seem to make the most of the rare start he got against Huesca.
Arturo Vidal – 8/10
Vidal had a pleasant evening post returning from suspension. Would be disappointed that he could not affect the outcome of the tie.
Puig – 7/10
In an unexpected start for the youngster, Puig showed us why exactly Valverde trusted him for this league fixture. He showed glimpses of his real potential, and he will undoubtedly be one for the future.
Malcom Silva – 8/10
The Brazilian put in an energetic performance but seemed a bit too eager to make the runs and was caught offside on a couple of occasions.
Prince Boateng – 6/10
A disappointing display from the Ghanaian who is yet to put on his shooting boots in the Barcelona strip.
Ousmane Dembélé – 7/10
A good return from injury for the French World Cup winner. Seems to be getting ready for the big night against Manchester United.
Substitutes
Philippe Coutinho – 6/10
Seemed to be poor on the ball post coming on. His passing also seemed shabby
Arthur Melo – 6/10
Not much involvement post coming on.
Jordi Alba – 5/10
Not much involvement post coming on.
