According to a recent report by Football.London, Arsenal have been linked with Club Brugge forward Wesley Moraes who has recently revealed his desire to move to the Premier League. In a recent interview with Het Belang van Limburg (via Football.London), the Brazilian forward shed some light on his future and said, “I have read all those names. It is of course completely different going to China than to another European country. I don’t know what I want, I don’t want to exclude anything.
“I do know that I once said that I want to go to England and that is still the case. I have always closely followed the Premier League. But I am certainly also open to other leagues.
“I have learned many things here that could come in handy in a larger league like the Premier League.”
The striker’s recent comments will be a massive boost for Unai Emery’s chances of landing him in the summer. The Gunners could benefit from adding more competition for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, and so Moraes will fit in well at the Emirates Stadium.
The Rise of Wesley Moraes
The South American prospect was born in Juiz de Fora and grew up playing football at Itabuna Esporte Clube before making a big move to AS Trencin in the summer of 2015. He scored eight goals in 22 matches for the Polish club which caught the attention of Club Brugge.
The Belgian giants decided to bring him to the Jupiler Pro League back in 2016, and since then, he has been a real revelation for them, scoring 35 goals in 121 matches thus far.
What Will Moraes Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
Moraes boasts decent pace and is physically dominant inside the opposition box. He has incredible strength while helps him with a lot of aerial duels on the pitch. Furthermore, his shots pack a lot of power.
Thus, Arsenal can use someone of his skill set as he will offer something different to what Aubameyang and Lacazette provide on the pitch. The 22-year-old has the makings of a dominant centre-forward and so only time will tell whether he can fulfil his true potential in the coming years.
Good Option For The Gunners?
All in all, it could be a clever piece of business for Emery if he can find a way to lure Moraes to North London this summer as the Brazilian powerhouse will be an excellent option for them off the bench next season.
