According to a recent report by Calciomercato, super agent Jorge Mendes could offer Wolverhampton Wanderers a chance to sign AC Milan forward, Andre Silva, who is currently playing on loan at Sevilla. The same source has also revealed that Milan are demanding a fee above €35m for their prized asset, but Sevilla have shown no indication of signing the Portuguese centre-forward permanently when his loan spell expires at the end of this campaign.
Andre Silva’s Struggles This Season
Silva has endured a frustrating season with Sevilla after joining the La Liga outfit at the start of this season. The 23-year-old has a lot of potential, but he has struggled to score goals consistently for the Spanish side during this campaign. Thus, it is no surprise that Joaquín Caparrós doesn’t intend to keep at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium beyond this summer which could allow Wolves to land the striker ahead of the new season.
Do Wolves Need A New Forward?
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have enjoyed a fantastic campaign thus far in the Premier League with Raul Jimenez firing on all cylinders for them up top. The recent emergence of Diogo Jota has also eased some of the goal-scoring workload from the Mexican international’s shoulders.
Hence, there is no reason why the Wolves boss should look towards recruiting another forward when there are already some capable goal-scoring options for him to consider at the Molineaux Stadium.
The Portuguese Forward’s Record For Club And Country
Silva has featured in 40 matches for Sevilla this term, scoring 11 goals while grabbing three assists in all competitions. His numbers are still quite impressive for a 23-year-old striker but the Portuguese forward needs to improve his game if he is to prove his worth in the Premier League.
The Milan striker has earned 33 international caps for Portugal and has scored 15 goals for his nation thus far. At 23, he has his peak years ahead of him which the West Midlands side could look to benefit from over the next few years.
Is Silva A Good Choice For Wolves?
All in all, Wolves are better of opting for a more proven talent if they decide to recruit a back-up for Jimenez and Jota. Hence, Nuno Santo should not entertain Mendes’ offer as Silva is not worth gambling on at this moment.
