West Ham United have experienced a rollercoaster of a season thus far and are currently occupying the 11th spot in the Premier League standings with a total tally of 42 points after 33 league matches. When firing on all cylinders, the Hammers can be a good match for any side in England’s top tier, but they have also been guilty of being way too inconsistent which is why the East London club has slid down to the bottom half of the league table.
The lack of goal-scoring from their strikers has been one of the main reasons behind their inconsistent run of results since the turn of this year. Hence, Manuel Pellegrini should concentrate on adding some much-needed firepower at the end of this campaign.
Here are three players the Hammers should look to sign during the summer transfer period.
Hirving Lozano
The Mexican international has enjoyed another successful campaign in the Dutch Eredivisie this season. Lozano has featured in 37 matches for PSV Eindhoven this term, scoring 21 goals while providing ten assists in all competitions. He has all the makings to be a future star in the Premier League so Pellegrini should undoubtedly consider making a move for his services ahead of the new season.
Moussa Marega
Some reports had linked the London club with a move for Moussa Marega. The Mali international has risen to prominence at FC Porto during this campaign after putting in some scintillating displays for them in the attacking third of the pitch. He has transformed himself into a lethal goal-scorer and was also a significant threat to the Liverpool defenders during Porto’s 2-0 defeat away at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Marega has found the back of the net on 17 occasions while providing ten assists in 39 appearances for the Portuguese giants across all competitions. He will be an excellent addition to the West Ham attack as his goal-scoring prowess will help them compete on all fronts next season.
Aleksander Mitrovic
West Ham United are apparently planning a swoop for Aleksander Mitrovic at the end of this season. The Serbian powerhouse has enjoyed his best season in the English top-flight despite failing to save Fulham from being relegated to the EFL Championship. Mitrovic is a dominant presence in the opposition half and could turn out to be a very potent weapon for the Hammers if they opt to bring him to the London Stadium.
The Cottagers centre-forward has scored ten goals and created two assists in 34 matches for Fulham this season in multiple competitions. Maybe a change in scenery could help him be even more productive in the final third while Pellegrini can also benefit from acquiring a player like Mitrovic in the off-season.
