It was another disappointing outing for Chelsea in their own backyard as they could only manage a 1-1 draw at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers in their Premier League encounter. Both the sides had a lacklustre first half but Wolves were the first to find the back of the net through Raul Jimenez in the second half.
The match was looking almost in the bag for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, but it was the Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard who spoilt the party for the West Midlands club. Willian’s short corner in the dying moments of the match ended in the back of the Wolves net after the Belgian’s powerful and well-directed shot deceived everyone including Rui Patricio’s outstretched hands.
Here is how the Chelsea players were rated from their draw against Wolves.
Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6
Had a sedate first half in the goal with very few saves to make. Was in no position to save Jimenez’s attempt in the second half.
Cesar Azpilicueta: 7
Had a decent outing as he made his darting runs down the right flank throughout the match. Looked solid in the backline as well.
David Luiz: 7
Good outing from the veteran as he kept the opposition under pressure with his timely tackles and interceptions. Was not to blame for the goal.
Antonio Rudiger: 6
Looked good in the first half but lost his composure in the later stages of the match. Allowed Jimenez to have a free shot at goal. Scoffed a half-chance to seal the win for his side right before the final whistle.
Emerson: 6
Tried his level best to get the ball up the pitch but lacked the accuracy in his passes. Did well while backtracking.
Jorginho: 7
A decent outing for the Italian as he made some excellent interceptions to break down the attacks in the middle of the pitch. Vied well against Dendoncker for the ball.
N’Golo Kante: 6
Looked a little subdued in the first half but came on his own as the match progressed. Delivered some good balls in the danger area in the second half but to no effect.
Mateo Kovacic: 6
A disappointing outing for the Croatian ace as he could not open up spaces and lacked the accuracy in his passing as well. Was substituted in the second half.
Pedro: 6
Tried his luck from long range on a few occasions but to no avail. Deceived the defenders with his nimble footwork quite a few times.
Eden Hazard: 8
The saviour for the Blues once again as his thunderous effort ended in the back of the net to give his side a share of the points on the night. Kept pressing for goals throughout the match but did not get much help from his teammates.
Gonzalo Higuain: 5
A rather disappointing outing from the Argentine as he squandered a good chance to put his side in the lead in the first half. Was inaccurate and indecisive while making decisions on the pitch.
Substitutes
Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 6
Did well to keep his composure in the face of pressure from the opposition attackers. Delivered a few good passes in the box as well.
Callum Hudson-Odoi: 6
Lit up the pitch with his excellent dribbling skills but was inaccurate in his passing. Looked a threat on a few occasions though.
Willian: 7
It was his presence of mind that led to the goal as he took a swift short corner to set up Hazard to take his shot. Should have been handed a starting spot in the first place by Sarri.
