According to a recent report by Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur are set to clash heads with Everton in pursuit of Barcelona speedster Malcom next summer. However, the same source has claimed that it would cost Spurs a lot of money as Barca would want to recoup most of the €50m fee that they paid for him last summer.
Mauricio Pochettino currently lacks depth on the wide areas with just Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Erik Lamela at his disposal who can operate as a natural winger. However, none of them can stretch the pitch like Malcom so Spurs would do well to prise him away from the Nou Camp in the off-season.
The Brazilian wide man has not been able to set the La Liga alight with his performances this season. However, he has still managed to be an excellent squad option for Ernesto Valverde so far in this campaign. The Sao Paulo born sensation has featured in just 15 matches for the Catalans this term, scoring three goals in all competitions.
There is no doubt that Malcom can benefit from a change in scenery next season so Spurs could be an ideal destination for him if he is willing to relocate to London this summer.
The 22-year-old has blistering pace and is a very lethal dribbler with the ball which helps him get to the byline to cause a lot of problems for the opposing defenders. The ex-Ligue 1 wonderkid can play on either flank or as a secondary striker up top which makes him such a useful tool for the Catalans.
Hence, Tottenham should consider splashing the cash to secure the services of the Brazilian wing wizard as he will undoubtedly bolster Pochettino’s attacking options at White Hart Lane. Spurs need to recruit wisely over the summer transfer window so that they have a strong squad going into the new season.
Malcom will not only increase competition for places down the flanks but will also improve Pochettino’s squad depth which is necessary if Spurs are to win a trophy in the coming years. Thus, the North London outfit should do everything they can to recruit the La Liga sensation at the end of this campaign.
