According to the latest reports from the Metro, PSV Eindhoven’s star Hirving Lozano dreams of a move to Manchester United according to the president of his former club Pachuca. Lozano’s name has been linked with United for quite some time, and the 23-year-old attacker shot into the limelight in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Since then, the winger’s name has been linked with quite a few heavyweight clubs. However, it is believed that Manchester United have been keeping track of this Mexican star since he was 16. Recent reports claim that United have opened talks with Lozano’s agent Mino Raiola. However, Jadon Sancho is said to be the priority for the Red Devils, and Lozano is being eyed as a backup if the Mancunian giants fail to land the Dortmund star in the summer.
Pachuca president Jesus Martinez recently said, ”What I can say and guarantee is that Hirving has had a Manchester United scout watching him since he was 16. They have his whole record. My ultimate dream would be to see ‘Chucky’ [Lozano’s nickname] at United and Hector [Herrera] at Atletico Madrid. It would be my dream and theirs.”
After a good World Cup, Lozano has continued with his impressive form at the club level as he has 19 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season in 34 appearances. Even as a striker, those would be fantastic numbers but as a winger, those numbers are out of the world. Lozano is adept in playing on either of the flanks and even as an attacking midfielder. There is no doubt that his versatility could suit Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
The 23-year-old has blistering pace and can go past defenders in one on one situations. He is also a fantastic dribbler with the ball which allows him to get out of tight spaces. Most importantly, he is effective in the final third as he regularly gets on the score sheet and can create goals for his team-mates with telling passes.
Lozano is currently valued at £34m and in today’s market, we feel that it would be an excellent price for a talent like him. Sancho is an impressive option. But the fact that he is an Englishman and has already represented the England national team at such a young age might make him more costly than Lozano.
Therefore as a cheaper alternative, the Mexican international is a decent choice, and he could be the playmaker that can take United to the next level. Moreover, he is still 23 and can serve at the Old Trafford at the peak of his powers for years to come.
