Barcelona notched up two massive victories against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey and La Liga respectively last week. While they decimated the Galacticos by 3-0 in the second leg of the Copa semi-final, a 1-0 scoreline was enough to see them off in the La Liga clash. The Blaugrana would be looking to keep their winning run intact when they take on Girona in their next encounter in the Supercopa De Catalunya final.
Girona, on the other hand, are also in good form of late and have not lost any of their last three matches in La Liga. However, it would be a tough task for them to get over the line against the La Liga leaders when they lock horns with Barcelona in their own backyard in this crucial matchup.
Team News
Ernesto Valverde will be happy to have a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of their match against Girona. Thomas Vermaelen, Samuel Umtiti and Rafinha are still recovering from their respective injuries and will not play any part in the next encounter.
Goalkeeper
Marc Andre Ter Stegen has been in brilliant form of late with his confidence soaring high after keeping back to back clean sheets against Real Madrid. He would be the one to start in the goal for Barcelona against Girona.
Defence
The duo of Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet completely outplayed the likes of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in the last couple of matches against Real Madrid. They would start in the backline for the Blaugrana in the next game as well.
Nelson Semedo would start as the right back while Jordi Alba puts in a shift in the left back position for the league leaders.
Midfield
Sergi Roberto has been a revelation for Barcelona since he was introduced in an advanced midfielder position and would start in the next match. Ivan Rakitic had a brilliant game against the Galacticos in the last outing and also scored the only goal of the match which proved to be the winning one. He would start ahead of Arthur in midfield.
Sergio Busquets would start in the defensive midfielder position right in front of the back four in the next match.
Attack
The Barcelona attack looked unstoppable in the last two matches with Luis Suarez notching up a hat-trick in the Copa Del Rey semi-final second leg. He would lead the line against Girona.
Talisman Lionel Messi would start as the wide attacker from the right while Ousmane Dembele would start on the left. Philippe Coutinho is expected to come off the bench later in the match.
Predicted Formation: 4-3-3
