Matchday 30 of Premier League 2018/19 sees Everton make the trip to St James’ Park to square off against Newcastle United.
The two sides will face off against each other in an early Saturday evening kick-off. Referee Lee Mason would be taking control of proceedings in the centre of the park when the two sides face each other for the second time this season in the Premier League. The first meeting earlier on this season ended in one all draw where Richarlison and Salamon Rondon found the back of the net.
The two sides have everything to play for this weekend. Everton are placed in the 10th position on the points table with 37 points. On the other hand, Newcastle United are currently in the 14th position and are just 6 points clear off the drop zone with 31 points to their credit.
Portuguese gaffer, Marco Silva will have the ability to pick from a full-strength squad for this encounter except for Leighton Baines.
Everton does seem to be the better side going into the game in terms of form as they played out a goalless draw at home in the Merseyside derby. Newcastle lost their last Premier League fixture against West Ham courtesy of two first-half goals.
Here’s how we at T4O feel Marco Silva’s men could line-up when they make the trip to St James’ Park.
Defence
First choice goalie, Jordan Pickford would be the man to take charge between the sticks. Pickford’s four troops in defence are more or less likely to be Seamus Coleman, Kurt Zouma, Michael Keane and summer recruit, Lucas Digne. This backline seems like the perfect mixture of youth and experience.
Pickford would be heavily reliant on his back four who have really stepped up their game in the last two fixtures Everton have played. The Toffees have managed two consecutive clean-sheets against Cardiff City and Liverpool.
Midfield
Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye, the pivots in Marco Silva’s Everton side are likely to be picked over summer signing Andre Gomes for this fixture. The lethal and precise trio Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bernard would be playing just ahead of the two defensive midfielders. Theo Walcott is another option for Marco Silva who can slot into the attacking positions.
The Liverpool based team would be heavily reliant on their midfielders for goal, which has been the story for the entire 2018/19 campaign. Richarlison and Sigurdsson together have been involved in 27 of Everton’s goals this season.
Attack
English striker, Dominic Calvert Lewin will be spearheading Everton’s attack on Saturday evening. The clinical attacker has bagged seven goals to his credit this season along with an assist in about 1200 minutes of game time.
Predicted Line-Up (4-2-3-1)
